Sensitive skin is very thin and delicate with fine pores. It flushes easily, is prone to broken capillaries, and is very often allergic and tends to develop rashes easily.
Tips to look after sensitive skin.
1. Use suitable products
Avoid using skin care products that have artificial fragrances and preservatives as well as strongly coloured cosmetics and instead use products formulated specifically for sensitive skin. Organic products which are free from chemicals, petrolatum and alcohol are best as they are less likely to irritate the skin.
2. Avoid the sun and windy weather
The sun and wind can have damaging effects on sensitive skin such as sunburn or cracked skin. If you have sensitive skin and are exposed to the sun, make sure you wear a hat and SPF.
3. Watch what you eat
Some foods cause allergies and inflame the skin. Common allergens are milk, dairy, peanuts, marinated & acidic food and very strongly flavoured foods with high amounts of salt, grease or sugar.
4. Reduce stress and strengthen your immune system
Research shows that a weak immune system and high levels of stress might have an impact on your skin. Make sure you get all the essential vitamins & minerals you need, have enough sleep, exercise regularly and keep your stress level to a minimum.
